Today was bracelet day

So today was bracelet day. making them, thinking about them- planning them- don't know why ... just was

Have a few more cooking- but didnt get to photo them yet...

Today was also a bit of a ring day. My "Mondrian" ring was a fight that lasted for several hours straight. Had no idea it would be so thick and what ot would involve to bend it. So all of these gym workouts were leading up to one little ring!!

There is a nice connection to a Mondrian paitning, I do believe. At least that was the intention...

And for todays top 5 list:

5 THINGS I WOULDNT WANT TO BE TRAPPED IN AN ELEVATOR WITH:

1. 5 boxes of mint chocolate chip ice cream and a spoon

2. durian (any one who has been to Thailand knows what this is)

3. an insurance saleman

4. Jehova Witness's

5. a pack of angry beavers (not sure they ride elevators, though)

Until tomorrow... Mara xo

Bits and Pieces

Today- this fine day in February- the middle of winter- where the whole world it seems is shivering away- chipping ice off their car windows. This is what was waiting for me in the backyard! This lovely little branch is from my nectarine tree. The branches are bursting with pale pink blossoms aftr a week of weirdly warm weather. Like pink popcorn- makes me want to put away the boots and sweaters- dreaming of tank tops and gelato- well, I always seem to be dreaming of gelato- but that is a different subject altogether...

And this lovely to the right is my orange tree- Cooperating its little heart out this winter after last year only giving us 5 oranges. A veritable bounty this year. I feel like a farmer!

Makes me want to get down in the dirt and dig for something- plant something- or maybe just sit in the sun and continue to think about gelato...

Onto a differnt thought- I believe my cats are plannig a coup. They have been unusually chummy lately- and seem to freeze whenever I enter the room. Santa- the black one- attacks from behind whenever I sit in a particular chair. You can see here by his paws through the back of the chair.
The first time it happened it scared me to death. And it is always fun to put guests there- something about that chair makes the cat go nuts. Which will bring me to todays top 5 list:
5 Indications you cat might have it in for you:
1. Your cat does actually have your tongue
2. cat poop in the litter box spells out "REDRUM"
3. you wake up to find a dead bird head in your bead
4. you find "feline investments porfolio" hidden behind the sofa
5. you find a ball of yarn shaped like a small noose
On that note... dont forget to check back tomorrow for the name of the big winner!!

2 Days Close to Heaven

There are a few places in the world that you feel like you are slightly seperate from earths usual boundries. Where the edges of earth and sky are slightly smudged... where you can step out of one and step into the other. I just spent 2 days there- hiked up the most impossible hills until my legs burned on fire- clinged to cliff walls not daring to look down... smelled wild flowers that cant even be described... leaped over streams so clear and clean that a scoop in the hands almost tasted like sugar.
I decided to take my city girl behind for two days with hubby Tamir up north- as it is called here. We went to the Golan heights and Galil mountains for a nature get-a-way. A few days of weirldy warm winter weather popped all the flowers out of their winter cocoons. In the Golan Heights- it is possible to wander for hours and not see a soul. Only listening to the sounds of water and air. We unfortunatly at one point ended up behind a high school trip yearly school trip! 75 kids wandering on nature trails- screaming- stopping for smoke breaks and leaving treail of gummy worms from here to eternity. It took us almost 2 hours to pass them!!

I climbed cliffs- and trust me- I am not a cliff climbing girl! Nor am I a usual river leaper- but this was also done. As my reward night one- we went to a gorgeous little town called Rosh Pina to the most amazing little B&B (called a tzimmer) This town was started in 1880 by Baron Rothschild- the houses are the original stone houses renovated. Place was spectacular beyond- unbelivable taste- amazing breakfast and the most romantic town you can imagine. (Not intentionally planned that it happened to be Valentines Day!).
Day 2 more hiking in the greenest flower-iest place on earth. Here are some pics of it all:

High above the Sea of Galilee
Action picture number one...

Have no clue how this cow got up here...

Amazing Medieval fortress built into cliff

Yes, this is as high as it looks- holding on tight

The view from the top

My rewards for the days work
Lovely Rosh Pina
One of the best breakfasts I have had in ages!
Blossoming almond trees
trapped behind the school trip
Unbelievable green as far as the eye can see
Leaping over tall buildings...
About to hatch...

Purple wqildflower fields forever

One very large cow... eyeing us suspiciously

beautiful green valley

To some it up- really magical 2 days. All that in a few hours rive. One nice thing about living in a small country. You can get almost everywhere in a few hours. Will probably takes my legs three more days to be able to move again!

On to other business: keep an eye out any minute for a BLOG GIVEAWAY!!!!!!

The Biggest Orange Ever

One of my favorite kids stories ever was james and the Giant peach. Except for the fact that he had to hang out with radioactive sized insects- that part would be a bit difficult for me... but- he did get to be in a giant peach- which in my opinion is the greatest fruit ever.
So, when I came upon this insanely sized orange on my tree yesterday, I did a little scouting around for strange little men with green crystals in the garden- but it seems this lovely grew by natures hand alone. This is a pic of it next to a normal sized orange:

It was roughly the size of a small bowling ball!!
Been catching up on a lot of new jewelry making lately- amazing new stones. I am obsessed with stones lately- a bit of a stone-aholic, i suppose. They are my version of Jimmy Choo's. Here are a few of yesterdays batch:

Back to the factory today. Tis the day for making bracelets
