to market to market

Friday in Tel Aviv. Warm clear sunny day and hours and hours to stroll around leisurly- what could be better. Went with Shanee windowshopping-,real shopping and tasting.

The Carmel market in Tel Aviv has been in the same place for ever- since Tel Aviv stated about 100 years ago- most of the vendors are generations of the same families. The amount of fruit and veggies are mindboggling. All sparkling like jewels- cherries- apricots, peached, and tomatos to name a few.

Here are a few pics of quantity:

cherries,bakalava and candy....

obviously I have some serious sugar issues!

Onto rings: am still in love with rough stones: diamonds,aquamarines,tourmalines.....

and this little stone- i stared at it vertically for over a year, not turning it in the obvious direction- gets the "duh" award"

and on a completely different note: my kitty cant resist hanging out in my bra. The minute it is off, she has to hop in it. Really odd. i find her sometimes with her little arms through the straps!!

that's all from the Holy land...

Something different

Yes yes yes... still neglecting the blog! I know! But I am getting better...

Decided to do something different these last few days- everything is starting to look the same with so many jewelry artists lately. There is this unspoken competition it seems. As soon as someone starts selling well on a type of design- it apears everywhere!! Instead of trying to jump on the bandwagon, maybe people ought to try and think of something new to try. How much of the same thing is really needed?

Well, enough ranting on that.

So, in the vein of something new, I made a KICK ASS interchangeable necklace. Luxurious loops of hammered fine silver. One centerpiece is a faceted rough cut ruby in a heavy textured silver frame. Looks gorgeous AND it can click off to exchange with another one of turquoise and fine silver!

I am just so enamored of this piece! it is nearly 100 grams of silver and feels divine on:

I am just in love with this!!!

Also, a key chain! Something for the person with enough jewelry

(If that is possible...)

And last but not least... a yummy bracelet

All in all... happy with results!!!

Independence day

I am ever so forgetful of this sad little blog! I vow everytime I write, that from now on I will keep it up. And today, I am doing that again. I VOW TO DO THIS MUCH MORE OFTEN!!!

Today is Independence day here in Israel- actually the night of and tomorrow the day. Tonight is all fireworks- and tomorrow is all BBQ. Sound familiar? But tomorrow is supposed to be an unusually hot day- so tank tops it is! Yeah!! I cant bear any more winter clothes!!

Here are a few pics of some of the latest to find its way out of my fingertips- photography needs to be improved though!

And finally one last picture:

Yes, I also created the Northern Lights-

I have been having a good creativity streak lately!!!

Back to normal...

Life is about to return to normal again!! No one out of this country can grasp just how long the Passover holiday actually lasts here. People start saying "Hag Sameach" or happy holidays about one month before. School vacation starts 8 days before and continues a few days after. 19 days school break!!!

Kids staying up all night and sleeping until the sun is way high in the sky. A family of vampires! I cant take it anymore!!! Two more days and school resumes- a sigh of relief.....

A nice break and needed break from the studio and ready to get back to hammer and fire. Stones calling out my name all night long- keeping me from a good nights sleep. Begging to find new homes... Soon- I keep telling them!

Todays top 5 list will be a top 10:
TEN FOODS I WOULD TAKE TO MY DESSERT ISLAND:
1. peaches
2. popcorn
3. chocolate covered raisins
4. strawberries
5. pad thai
6. red peppers
7. goat cheese
8. crusty whole wheat bread
9. perfectly cooked good steak
10. lemon meringue pie

Hopefully, I will never face that decision- because my list is already changing...

scary nursery rhymes

Some nursery rhymes just are frightening as hell. take the one about the poor ladybug:

Ladybug! Ladybug!
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire.
And your children all gone.

All except one,
And that's little Ann
For she crept under
The frying pan.

Now- how god awful is that nursery rhyme!?Let's re-write that:

Ladybug! Ladybug
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire
and your children are in need
of better parental care!!

My goodness- where is ladybug protective services when you want them!!!

These little ladybugs are made from silver and moonstone. Sweet and spring-like!

After so many years of living in the Middle east- a Hamsa was a

long time in the making!!!

Silver,aquamarine and gem silica!!!

No top 5 list today- to much heavy thoughts about the ladybug issues!!!

But it is not work- if I dont do it I go nuts. I physically need to create- today was full of colorful stones. Purples, blues- everything:

Yummy colors, NO?
